Today was the last day of school for Cassidy. After school, they had a play -- Peter and the Wolf. Cassidy was a "baby sheep." I asked her why don't you have a speaking part in the play and she told me she did...she says "baa, baa, baa." She was the best baby sheep ever!

day 179/365 rainbow jello disaster
Tomorrow is Cassidy's last day of school. They're having a potluck and I volunteered to bring dessert. So, I mistakenly decided to make rainbow jello. Mistake 1 - I decided to use prettier colors, like peach, purple and raspberry, not traditional colors. That means it's not truly a rainbow. Mistake 2 - I ran out of the white (which is condensed milk and knox gelatin). Mistake 3 - I didn't wait long enough between the purple and green so, combined with the insufficient amount of white, it peeled and bled together. Mistake 4 - I thought I could fix it by adding an orange layer. It just made the purple layer brown...I think I salvaged it, however by doing a flip! Red layer on top!! This is the corner piece, so it doesn't look clean (plus it's melted a little). I made the other squares smaller and cleaner and I think it will be ok. But I probably won't be making this dessert EVER AGAIN since I just finished it and I started it FIVE HOURS AGO!!!! Phew!

day 178/365 my cat is diabetic...
So last Monday, I took my cat, Snoopy, to the vet because she was bleeding from somewhere down there...not sure where, just sure it was from down there somewhere. After one week at the vet and multiple tests and x-rays later, I learn she is diabetic, oh, and she may have had a urinary infection. Oh, and did I mention that Snoopy is about 16-17 years old. So, she's OLD. After calling nearly twice a day for the last week, she was finally released into my custody and I was able to pick her up from the vet yesterday. Of course, they gave me a slew of things and instructions. One of which is to give her this ProZinc insulin for cats (even though it says "human insulin" on the bottle) twice a day, but only if she's eaten. And if she hasn't eaten, then I am not supposed to give it to her. Oh, and if I give her too much, she could go into an "insulin coma." Oh, and she could become "undiabetic" (apparently a medical term used by my vet) at any given moment and if "undiabetic" and given insulin, she could also go into an "insulin coma." So how am I supposed to know she has gone "undiabetic"? I am supposed to "watch her". And how am I supposed to "watch her" when I am working? Geesh! So needless to say, even though my cat is now a diabetic, she seems fine. She's eating, drinking, peeing (no blood), and purring...basically doing all the things a cat is supposed to do. So I guess we'll just wait and see what happens. Like I said, she's old and she's had a long and happy life.

day 177/365 old friends
Cassidy went to her "old" friend Christian's birthday party yesterday. Christian and Cassidy were buddies in preschool, when they were 3. Christian left school after about a year together and Cassidy hasn't seen him for about 1-1/2 years. His mom called out of the blue a couple weeks ago to invite Cassidy to his 5th birthday party. So we went...even if it was at Chuck E. Cheese. After cake, the birthday boy got to choose one friend to go into this wind tube to try to catch tickets to be used later to buy stuff. Christian chose Cassidy. After all these years...he still chose Cassidy. It was so sweet...and she was thrilled!

day 172/365 training
Cassidy is signed up to run a "half-kids" on the 4th of July -- it's a 1/2 mile run. Today we went for a test run so she could see just how far 1/2 miles is. She started out too fast and pooped out at the end. This is a picture of her towards the end of the run. Notice she wore a skirt to run...We're going to have work on getting her to wear shorts. Not only would it be cooler and easier for her...but running in a pink polka-dot skirt with a t-shirt and Nikes just isn't very fashionable.

Cassidy was thrilled when we went to Kohls and found a nightie for her AND bear-bear! We also got a dress with a matching one for bear-bear. She was so happy that bear-bear finally had proper clothes to sleep and play in.
