day 5/365 the ugly shoes

day 5/365 the ugly shoes, originally uploaded by Darolyn Hamada.
My daughter (the soon-to-be 5 year old) wears a uniform to school. As part of their uniform, they have to wear black, brown or navy shoes. She has lots of black shoes. She even has black shoes that she has never ever worn before. Why is it that every morning, when I tell her to put on her shoes, she inevitably choses these worn out, toe-scraped, no-more-glittered, black shoes from Target? Don't get me wrong, these black shoes were great in their prime (i.e., like the first day she wore them). But today, they are just plain ugly.

  2. Love those well-worn (and loved) shoes! My 2 1/2 yo keeps doing the same thing with her non-glittery black Target shoes. :)

  3. I love this shot. They tell a story about how much a little girl loved to dance and play and imagine in them. They do look as if they have seen better days though.

  4. Aww. What a sweet shot. My son was the same way with a pair of rainboots when he was 2. They had seen better days and he wore them EVERYWHERE. Now that he's outgrown them, he's just replaced them with new (different) boots- but your post has reminded me to take a picture of them so I'll always remember these little moments!
